In our last Spring Ride Routes, we mentioned 3 cycling routes, and today we are recommending 3 more cycling routes on California’s Central Coast with distances ranging from 30-60 miles.

Edna Valley Route

Cycling Routes 1: Edna Valley Route - 33.8 Miles

If you're a wine-loving cyclist, head to the Edna Valley Route and experience some of the best wines in the Edna Valley! Beginning at Avila Beach, the 34-mile route will take you from tasting room to tasting room, traversing small hills and winding through vineyards, offering breathtaking views at every turn. Your tour can include any number of stops, as Edna Valley wineries are conveniently distributed throughout the loop. Back in Avila, stroll along the beach.

NOTE: Remember to ride safely - it is never a good idea to get drunk while operating a bike. The taste is up to you.

Avila Valley Barn

Avila Valley Barn is conveniently located off Highway 101 in the beautiful Avila Valley. The farm is open to the public during our operating hours so guests can enjoy the view with the group. They use healthy soil practices, which means they use compost, green ground cover, animal grazing and lots of biodiversity! They don't use pesticides, so you can walk into the field 365 days a year and pick fruits and vegetables directly from the plants. Stop for a full farm experience.

Pismo Preserve

Spread over 880 acres, Pismo Preserve offers outdoor enthusiasts truly extraordinary and varied recreational opportunities. Visitors will enjoy more than 11 miles of trails through tranquil oak forests and coastal ridgelines, with breathtaking panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean from the Irish Hills to Saar Point.

Biddle Ranch Vineyard

Edna Valley Vineyard

Saucelito Canyon Tasting Room

The Saucelito Canyon Tasting Room is located in the heart of the picturesque Edna Valley on California's Central Coast, surrounded by vineyards and rolling hills. They focus on Zinfandels that express the natural qualities of their historic estate vineyards in the Arroyo Grande Valley.

Wolff Vineyards

Wolff Vineyards is located on 125 acres of eco-friendly and certified sustainable vineyards. The tasting room is located in the heart of Edna Valley Winery, just 4.5 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The vineyard has been cultivated for 40 years since 1976 and the winery opened 20 years ago in 1999. Stop for some of the best wines in Edna Valley.

Chamisal Vineyards

Chamisal Vineyards is located in a peaceful setting in the beautiful Edna Valley. Their wines are known for their intense flavors, mouthwatering textures and impeccable balance. Taste their sustainably produced Chardonnay and Pinot Noir straight from the source.

Kynsi Winery

Kynsi Winery is a family-run business focused on producing limited-production premium wines. Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Syrah and unique red blends are sourced from highly regarded cool climate vineyards, as well as Pinot Noir from Edna Valley Estates Stone Corral Vineyards. This tasting room embodies the flavours of the Central Coast.
Claiborne & Churchill Winery

Claiborne & Churchill is a family-run microbrewery established in 1983 in the heart of Edna Valley Winery just outside of San Luis Obispo, California. Inspired by Alsace wines, we specialize in the production of premium dry wines made from Riesling, Gewurztraminer and Pinot Gris grapes, as well as artisanal Pinot Noir and Syrah from several vineyards in the Edna Valley.

Green Valley Loop

Cycling Routes 2: Green Valley Loop - 36.6 Miles

A sister route to the Santa Rosa Creek Route, this route completes the connection from Santa Rosa Creek Road all the way to Highway 46 and back to Cambria. You'll encounter some steep climbs on Santa Rosa Creek past Jackson Gate, but your hard work will end with the famous Pacific Ocean view from Highway 1 at the end of your trip.

Moonstone Beach

The route ends at Moonstone Beach, where you can relax after a long ride. Enjoy the cool sea breeze and cliff-top views, or head to the pebble sandy beaches to find your very own moonstone.

Cambria Coffee Roasting Company

Start your journey with a fresh beer and a caffeine infusion. Cambria Coffee Roasting Company is known for its attention to detail when creating gourmet blends and delivering unique roasts to customers. They have specialty beers, flavored beverages, and delicious baked goods, and their laid-back setting is the perfect place to unwind with a cup of coffee.

Stolo Family Vineyards

One of two estate wineries in Cambria, the farmhouse and old dairy farm of Stolo Family Vineyards dates back to the late 1800s. Vineyards less than three miles from the Pacific Ocean thrive in Cumbria's unique microclimate, producing unrivaled coastal-style Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir and Syrah. Don't miss their stunning properties just outside the city.

Linn’s Farm Store

This farm is where the Linn family started making the olallieberry delicacies that are now well known on the Central Coast and beyond. They now own a restaurant and several smaller gift shops in town, but their original fruit stand holds a special place in Cumbria's history. During the summer, stop by Lynn's Farm Shop to sample Lynn's famous olallieberry tarts.

Green Valley

Piedras Blancas Light Station Fresnel Lens

The first-order Fresnel lens used at Piedras Blancas Lighthouse was built in France in 1872 by Henri Lapart. The original lens and clockwork mechanism is on display next to the Veterans Memorial.

Highway 46 Route

Cycling Routes 3: Highway 46 Route - 38.1 Miles

This route stretches the Santa Rosa Creek Route all the way to Highway 46 for some winding turns and challenging inclines. It starts with a coffee in town and ends with a healthy and nutritious lunch across the street. During this time, you'll encounter some steep climbs at the end of Santa Rosa Creek Road - but then you'll be able to turn around and enjoy the descent.

Leffingwell Landing State Park

At the northern end of Moonstone Beach, you'll find Leffingwell Landing, part of Hearst San Simeon State Park. There are public toilets, as well as picnic tables and trails leading to beautiful ocean views.

927 Beer Company

At 927, you'll find a warm and friendly environment frequented by many locals, a selection of table games and a great selection of beers. They also pour wine and cider made by our friends on the Central Coast. Although they don't serve food, you are welcome to bring something to enjoy.

Step into this quaint cafe and grab a cup of coffee, tea, or even a ready-made beer! Check out the local artwork displayed on the walls, or enjoy a drink in the garden or on the patio.

Indigo Moon

Casual, warm and friendly lunches feature hearty unusual sandwiches and homemade soups, while dinners offer more haute cuisine, featuring local seafood, fresh salads and creative desserts.
